Pokémon TCG announces 30th anniversary set with “all foil cards”, 30 new unique Pikachu illustrations, and the return of classic Charizard

The Pokémon Company has announced a 30th Anniversary Celebration set for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, launching worldwide on September 16th, 2026. Following the successful formula of the 25th anniversary set, this expansion features reprints of classic cards from across three decades of the franchise, each stamped with a commemorative 30th anniversary mark.

The set introduces several marquee features, including a new “Futuristic” card rarity with distinctive artwork by Japanese artist YOSHIROTTEN. All cards in the set will be foil, adding to their collectibility and visual appeal. Additionally, the expansion showcases 30 unique Pikachu illustrations throughout the set, celebrating the iconic mascot’s prominence in the franchise’s history.

Among the confirmed reprints are highly sought-after cards including base set Charizard and Pikachu & Zekrom GX, both originally iconic pulls from earlier eras of the TCG. The complete lineup of 30 classic reprints has reportedly been leaked online, revealing which cherished cards will be included in the celebration.

The set is exclusive to the physical Pokémon Trading Card Game and will not be available in the digital Pokémon Pocket version. Given the historically strong demand for premium anniversary sets and limited print runs typical of special releases, collectors are anticipating significant competition for product availability upon release.
