Rayman Legends Retold Is More Than A Remake–It Could Be The Future Of The Series

Ubisoft has officially announced Rayman Legends Retold, a comprehensive remake of the 2013 platformer that will reimagine the beloved classic with full 3D graphics and new gameplay elements. The announcement came during PlayStation State of Play on June 2, 2026, thirteen years after the original Rayman Legends released.

The remake completely reconstructs the original game from the ground up, transforming its iconic 2D hand-painted art style into modern 3D visuals while maintaining the series’ distinctive personality. In addition to remaking the original sidescrolling levels in 3D, the game includes entirely new 3D gameplay segments, such as on-rails dragon rides. A retold story features voiced cutscenes, and four new musical levels join the classics. The game supports couch co-op gameplay.

Rayman Legends Retold launches at $39.99 across PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S on October 1, 2026. The game is being developed by Ubisoft Milan and Montpellier, with a soundtrack composed by original series composer Christophe Héral alongside industry veteran Grant Kirkhope (Banjo Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64).

A significant bonus accompanies the purchase: Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition will be included as a free pre-order and launch bonus, featuring 4K resolution, 60 FPS performance, new collectibles, haptic feedback support, and modern quality-of-life improvements.

The Switch 2 port represents a notable technical accomplishment, running 60 FPS with ray-tracing enabled, performing at parity with Xbox Series S. Despite the remake’s technical demands, Ubisoft successfully optimized it for Nintendo’s new console, building on the original’s legacy as a Wii U exclusive and its 2017 Switch Definitive Edition.
