Star Wars Jedi 3 rumour suggests we might see an older Cal Kestis after a time jump, which lines up with recent promises of “more Cal stories”

Star Wars Jedi 3, currently in active development, may feature protagonist Cal Kestis as an older character following a significant time jump in the story, according to reporting from Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson. The rumor aligns with recent developer commitments to deliver “more Cal stories” in the franchise.

Henderson revealed during the latest episode of Insider Gaming Weekly that he heard approximately a year ago about the potential direction for the sequel. The time jump concept addresses a longstanding narrative challenge: Cal Kestis, the protagonist of the Jedi series, is not present during the events of the original Star Wars trilogy, when Luke Skywalker confronts the Empire and Darth Vader.

By aging Cal through a time jump, developers could extend his story while maintaining continuity with established Star Wars canon. The approach would allow Respawn Entertainment to continue exploring the character’s journey while explaining his absence from the original trilogy’s timeline. This narrative strategy appears to satisfy publisher EA’s apparent interest in expanding Cal’s arc, following the commercial and critical success of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the series’ second installment.

The report provides the first concrete indication of how developers plan to resolve the timeline constraints that have defined the series since its 2019 debut. While an official announcement has not been made, the rumor suggests the developers have already considered how to balance fan demand for more Cal-focused stories with the immutable timeline of the broader Star Wars saga.
