Star Fox-like Wild Blue Skies is coming out this August

Wild Blue Skies, an on-rails dogfighting action game inspired by classics like Star Fox 64, has been announced for August 13 release on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. The game is being developed by Chuhai Labs and published by Balor Games.

The game follows Bowie Stray, a dogman pilot, and his elite squadron the Blue Bombers as they engage Grimclaw’s intergalactic forces in aerial combat. The developers are targeting a Saturday morning cartoon aesthetic and tone for the experience. The gameplay specifically draws inspiration from “classic on-rails aerial shooters of the N64 and PS1 era,” channeling the style of games like Star Fox 64 that defined the genre during that period.

This announcement arrives during a particularly active moment for the Star Fox franchise. Fox McCloud has recently appeared in theatrical film, and the character is set to return on Nintendo Switch 2. For players interested in on-rails aerial combat gaming but without access to the Switch 2, Wild Blue Skies provides an alternative option on other major platforms, extending this style of gameplay to a broader audience across multiple systems.
