Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Update Adds ‘Streamlined Progression’ to Make the Game Easier
Square Enix has released a major patch for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on PlayStation 5 and PC that introduces “streamlined progression” features designed to make the game more accessible. These features allow players to advance through the game more smoothly, both during initial playthroughs and subsequent replays.
The streamlined progression options include various gameplay assists such as unlimited HP and MP during combat, constant maximum damage output, a permanently full Limit Gauge and ATB Gauge, and simplified synergy mechanics. Players can also enable maximum gil and recovery items at all times, easier weapon ability acquisition, and increased material collection rates. Additional options include 2x EXP and 3x AP gain multipliers, and maximum materia levels.
The patch also introduces a “New Game - Head Start” feature that allows players to begin the game with level 65 characters—near the maximum level of 70—already equipped with enhanced materia, significantly reducing early-game progression time.
This patch brings PS5 and PC versions of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in line with features already available on other ports, including the Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 versions. Square Enix has positioned these options as accessibility aids rather than traditional cheat codes, demonstrating the company’s commitment to making its major releases more accessible to a wider audience.
