Magic: The Gathering reveals Fin Fang Foom for Marvel Super Heroes
Magic: The Gathering’s upcoming Marvel Super Heroes set will introduce both iconic and obscure Marvel Comics characters to the trading card game. The set features popular heroes including Spider-Man, Captain America, the Avengers, and the X-Men, alongside lesser-known fan-favorite characters from the Marvel universe.
This announcement is part of an ongoing multi-year collaboration between Wizards of the Coast and Marvel that began with last year’s Spider-Man set. According to Aaron Mesburne, senior narrative game designer at Wizards of the Coast, one key goal of the partnership is to give niche characters their moment in Magic’s spotlight. The team aims to balance mainstream appeal with opportunities for deep Marvel fans to discover and play with more unusual characters.
A notable design constraint guides the collaboration: the development team aims to include at least one “dragon” character in each Marvel-themed set released. With multiple sets planned across several years, the partnership promises sustained Marvel content for Magic players, expanding representation beyond the franchise’s most recognizable faces.
