Netflix reveals new animated show from Scavengers Reign studio

Netflix has greenlit a new adult-animated comedy series called Dealies, created by the studio behind the acclaimed cult animated series Scavengers Reign. The show is being developed by Joe Bennet and Green Street Pictures, with Bennet and Ted Travelstead serving as showrunners, writers, and executive producers.

Dealies is described as a workplace comedy centered around the quirky staff of a big box superstore. The show’s logline promises an ensemble of distinctive characters: “A savant salesman. A gentle gladiator. A quiet virtuoso. A summoner of the divine. And the poor soul who hired them.” These characters are portrayed as “masters of the delicate alchemy of trade” and “prophets of enterprise” who occasionally get around to actual work.

Green Street Pictures has built a reputation for distinctive and surreal animation through its previous projects, including Scavengers Reign—a sci-fi series that developed a devoted following despite its brief run—and Common Side Effects. Based on the studio’s track record, Dealies is expected to bring that same off-kilter sensibility to the workplace comedy genre. The announcement reflects Netflix’s continued investment in original animated content from acclaimed independent creators.
