Pokémon Legends: Z-A season 12 is going to be absolutely ridiculous

Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s season 12, beginning June 4, is introducing a major shift to the game’s competitive battling landscape. While the game received a more modest reception compared to its predecessor Pokémon Legends: Arceus—with its ambitious city setting exposed some visual and technical limitations—the title has maintained a healthy competitive battling community.

The most significant change comes in the form of completely lifting restrictions on which Pokémon can be used in competitive battles. Starting season 12, all Pokémon available in either the Lumiose Pokédex or the Hyperspace Pokédex will be eligible for use, including previously restricted Legendary Pokémon such as Groudon, Kyogre, Mewtwo, Rayquaza, Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde.

This represents a dramatic shake-up for the competitive scene, fundamentally altering team-building strategies and the meta-game. The opening of such powerful creatures to all players could lead to significant shifts in how competitive battles are structured and contested.
