Thermaltake has built a PSU that splits in two… on purpose
Thermaltake has introduced the Dockpower series, a new line of power supply units designed to simplify PC installation through an innovative modular design. The PSUs are available in capacities ranging from 750 to 1200 watts, with both black and white color options, and feature 12V-2x6 power connectors suitable for most modern gaming systems.
The defining innovation of the Dockpower series is its ability to physically separate into two distinct components. By removing a single screw from the connector end, the port section completely detaches from the main PSU body. This unique approach allows builders to position and connect power cables independently of the main unit, addressing a common pain point in PC assembly where the PSU’s bulk can complicate cable management and connector access during installation.
The design represents a departure from traditional PSU engineering, which typically keeps units intact. Rather than relying solely on internal cable modularity, Thermaltake has implemented external structural separation to improve the overall build experience. The company unveiled this innovation at Computex, the major tech industry trade show, positioning it as a meaningful advancement in making PC building more accessible to both enthusiasts and newcomers.
