Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis studio have used “AI-assisted tools” during development, but swear “any AI-assisted assets were either replaced or refined by humans”
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a remake of the 1996 classic, has been delayed to February 12th, 2027. The announcement was made during a PlayStation showcase presentation where the game’s latest trailer debuted. Alongside the release date news, the development team disclosed their use of “AI-assisted tools” during production. According to a notice added to the game’s Steam page, these tools were limited to supporting “early exploration and temporary development content.” The studio provided reassurance by stating that “any AI-assisted assets were either replaced or refined by humans,” clarifying that the final product contains no unrefined AI-generated content. The disclosure appears to be a recent addition to Steam, suggesting the developer took a proactive stance on addressing broader industry conversations around AI in game development. The extended timeline indicates the team needs additional development time to complete the reimagining of Lara Croft’s debut adventure.
