Wooting’s big knob is much more than a volume dial, set to arrive later this year for 80 HE

Wooting is preparing to release the Lekker Knob Large, an advanced controller accessory for its 80 HE analogue gaming keyboard, expected later this year. The knob replaces the standard navigation key block positioned above the arrow keys.

While a volume dial might seem like the primary function, Wooting’s software integration through the Wootility application enables far more versatile functionality. According to Wooting’s lead software engineer Simon Whyte, the knob supports multiple programming modes to suit different gaming scenarios and applications.

The knob features at least two primary programming modes: Relative mode, which triggers actions based on rotation direction, and Absolute mode, which maps specific positions to fixed values. This flexibility allows users to customize the knob’s behavior for different games or applications, from volume control to in-game functions or utility controls.

The Lekker Knob Large announcement builds on Wooting’s continued development of specialized gaming peripherals. First unveiled at Computex last year, the device represents the company’s expansion of the 80 HE keyboard’s functionality beyond traditional key-based input.
