WWE 2K series ‘could be double or triple the size that it is’, Take-Two CEO says
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has indicated that the WWE 2K franchise possesses significant untapped potential, with the series capable of growing to double or triple its current audience size. This optimistic assessment comes following the critical and commercial success of WWE 2K26, the latest entry in the annual wrestling simulation series.
WWE 2K26 has demonstrated strong performance metrics, achieving favorable Metacritic scores and notably recording a 20% year-over-year increase in “recurrent consumer spending” compared to the previous year’s installment. This metric indicates growing player engagement with the game’s monetization features and ongoing content offerings.
Zelnick emphasized that the franchise’s expansion will depend on continued innovation from developer Visual Concepts with each annual release. He credited the strong partnership with TKO (The Wrestling Company), headed by Nick Khan, as a key factor in the game’s success.
The CEO’s comments reflect confidence in the wrestling gaming market’s growth potential and suggest that Take-Two’s strategy focuses on meaningful feature additions and content improvements rather than incremental updates. The success of WWE 2K26’s recurrent spending model demonstrates player willingness to invest in the franchise beyond the base purchase, positioning the series well for potential audience expansion if innovation targets remain consistent.
