Report: FSR 4.1 Currently Doubtful For RDNA 3.5 Processors
AMD has not yet finalized its decision on bringing FSR 4.1 to RDNA 3.5 GPU architecture. According to HardwareLuxx, which spoke with AMD’s David McAfee, Corporate VP and General Manager of the Client Channel Business, at Computex, the company is still weighing the technical and business implications of supporting the technology on this processor generation.
The company has confirmed FSR 4.1 will launch for RDNA 3 in July, with RDNA 2 support arriving in early 2027. However, RDNA 3.5 remains uncertain, with HardwareLuxx reporting that AMD’s assessment is “leaning towards no” on implementing the feature for that architecture, though no final decision has been made.
FSR 4 and 4.1 represent major progress for AMD’s upscaling solution, delivering image quality competitive with Nvidia’s established technologies. These upgrades mark a significant milestone for AMD users seeking high-performance graphics optimization. How AMD’s support decisions across its GPU lineup will shape user adoption and the broader competitive landscape for upscaling technology remains to be seen.
