Backyard Baseball Will Have Online Multiplayer
Backyard Baseball is bringing online multiplayer to the beloved sports series for the first time. Publisher Playground Productions announced that the new game will feature online multiplayer and couch co-op modes when it launches on July 9.
The addition of online play marks a significant milestone for the franchise, fulfilling what Playground Productions describes as “the most requested and most highly anticipated feature from the fan community.” The company emphasizes the social and accessible nature of the game, with CEO Lindsay Barnett noting, “Backyard Baseball has an incredible fan community. With online play and couch co-op, we’re proud to be creating more opportunities for fans to connect and play together.”
The reboot of the classic baseball series was first announced in January. Playground Productions positions Backyard Baseball as a game for “kids and kids at heart,” reflecting the franchise’s legacy as a casual, accessible gaming experience designed to appeal to a broad audience.
