BLG Toplaner Bin Fined $22K for Failing to High-Five Fans

Bilibili Gaming toplaner Chen ‘Bin’ Ze-Bin has been fined ¥150,000 RMB (~$22,000 USD) by Riot Games for failing to interact with fans after a playoff match. Following BLG’s 3-0 victory over EDward Gaming on Wednesday, Bin declined to high-five fans in the VIP section who had purchased premium tickets that specifically advertised player interactions as part of the package.

In addition to the individual fine, Bilibili Gaming itself was penalized ¥50,000 RMB (~$7,400 USD) for the incident. Bin is also required to complete relevant education and training as part of his disciplinary measures.

This incident comes during a particularly tumultuous period for BLG, which recently suffered an unexpected loss to Team WE in the LPL Split 2 Playoffs Lower Bracket. The heavy financial penalty underscores Riot Games’ commitment to enforcing player conduct standards, particularly regarding fan engagement and the fulfillment of promised experiences associated with premium ticket purchases.

The fine is notably substantial for an esports discipline measure, reflecting the publisher’s stance on player accountability and fan relations. It demonstrates how esports conduct violations—extending beyond in-game behavior to include player professionalism and fan interactions—are being treated with increasing severity in competitive League of Legends.
