Domino’s Pizza Wades Into God of War Laufey No Kratos Discourse, Sparks Spicy Replies

The reveal of God of War Laufey, which features protagonist Faye instead of Kratos, sparked significant debate across gaming communities following Sony’s State of Play presentation. The franchise shift attracted substantial online discussion, including unexpected criticism from Domino’s Pizza UK.

Seeking engagement as the Premier League season concluded, Domino’s Pizza UK posted a humorous jab at the game’s direction, comparing it to their menu: “God of War game with no Kratos = Pepperoni Passion with no pepperoni.” The tweet resonated widely, accumulating over 70,000 likes and becoming a viral moment in gaming discourse.

Rather than ignoring the quip, Santa Monica Studio responded directly with their own comeback: “Okay thanks for the feedback, Domino’s Pizza corporate account.” The studio’s reply proved remarkably more successful, quickly accumulating over 105,000 likes and effectively “ratioing” Domino’s original post. The exchange was notable because game studios typically maintain careful distance from social media feuds and viral moments.

The incident underscores how God of War Laufey’s protagonist change has become a focal point in gaming culture. The decision to center Faye’s story rather than Kratos has proven divisive among fans, generating ongoing debate about franchise direction and character development. Santa Monica Studio’s creative leadership has discussed their reasoning behind this creative choice in official interviews.

This brief social media exchange demonstrated unexpected crossover appeal between corporate brands and gaming culture, with a pizza chain’s humorous criticism becoming a defining early moment in God of War Laufey discourse.
