FromSoftware has finally announced an Elden Ring Switch 2 release date

FromSoftware and Bandai Namco Entertainment have announced an August 28, 2026 release date for Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on Nintendo Switch 2, concluding a wait that began with the console’s 2025 launch announcement. The port was originally planned for 2025 but faced delays due to performance optimization concerns raised during preview events.

The Tarnished Edition ($79.99) bundles the base game with the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, plus exclusive Switch 2 content: two new starting classes (Heavy Knight and Knight of Ides), additional armor sets, and cosmetic customization options for Torrent. This new content won’t remain platform-exclusive; a simultaneous Tarnished Pack DLC launches August 28 across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, priced at approximately $3.44-$5 USD.

The announcement marks another significant third-party title joining Switch 2’s expanding library alongside recent ports like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. It addresses long-standing requests from Switch players for an Elden Ring version on Nintendo hardware and demonstrates FromSoftware’s commitment to technical improvements despite earlier concerns about handheld performance. The simultaneous cross-platform DLC release ensures existing players can access the new content immediately rather than waiting for a later update.
