God Of War Laufey Brings Back One Of The Best Parts Of The Previous Games
PlayStation has announced God of War: Laufey, a new PS5 exclusive revealed during a recent State of Play presentation. The game marks a significant departure for the franchise, shifting focus to Laufey as the protagonist rather than series mainstay Kratos.
Composer Bear McCreary will return for the new entry, having previously scored 2018’s God of War and 2022’s God of War: Ragnarök. McCreary expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “I am honored to return to the God of War saga, as the composer of God of War Laufey.”
McCreary revealed he has been working on the soundtrack for years, collaborating with a “stunningly talented team of developers, musicians, performers, and singers.” Beyond composition, his involvement in the franchise has expanded—he previously contributed to God of War: Ragnarök’s 2023 Valhalla expansion.
The return of a key creative talent like McCreary suggests artistic continuity despite the protagonist change. The new protagonist role signals a potential new direction for the long-running franchise, with the game currently in development for PlayStation 5.
