God of War Laufey Is Much Closer to Releasing on PS5 Than You Think
Sony recently showcased 20 minutes of gameplay from God of War Laufey, an upcoming spin-off title for PS5 that places players in the role of Faye, Kratos’ wife. Though the company declined to announce an official release window during the presentation, industry reporting suggests the game is further along in development than similar major announcements.
Initial rumors had speculated a 2027 launch window for the title. While Sony remained non-committal in its official communications, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier indicated on social media that the lack of an announced window should not be interpreted as a sign the game remains years away from release. This suggests the 2027 timeframe is likely still under consideration for the game’s debut.
The gameplay footage shown represents a clear departure from the main God of War series, with Faye serving as the playable protagonist rather than Kratos. This positioning establishes the spin-off as a distinct entry in the franchise, potentially offering a different perspective and gameplay experience from what players know.
