Crossfire is a new tactical, single-player action game from former Modern Warfare 2019 and Naughty Dog leads

Crossfire is a new tactical, single-player action game unveiled at Summer Game Fest 2026. Developed by That’s No Moon, a newly formed independent studio, the game is a third-person tactical action-adventure that blends stealth with grounded combat. The narrative-driven experience centers on two rival operators—Layla and Cross—who must form an uneasy alliance against a common threat neither could face alone.

The studio behind Crossfire boasts impressive pedigree, with its leadership drawn from the gaming industry’s most acclaimed titles. Co-founders include veterans of Naughty Dog (known for Uncharted and The Last of Us), the 2019 Modern Warfare reboot (Infinity Ward), and Sony’s original PlayStation division. This combination of experienced developers from acclaimed single-player experiences with action game expertise suggests Smilegate, the South Korean publisher backing the project, is serious about creating a quality narrative-driven shooter.

One of Crossfire’s standout features is its Adaptive Cover mechanic, which dynamically adjusts the player’s stance based on terrain, promising more organic and responsive cover-based gameplay. The game has garnered immediate interest from gaming media, with some comparing it favorably to Spec Ops: The Line—a critically acclaimed military shooter known for its compelling narrative and moral complexity.

The cast includes actress Claudia Doumit. The game is confirmed for both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, though no release date has been announced. Currently based on pre-alpha footage, Crossfire is positioned as one to watch, representing ambitious, story-focused experiences that stand out in an increasingly live-service-dominated industry.
