Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 is called Revelation, coming to PS5, Xbox and Switch 2 simultaneously Spring 2027
Square Enix has officially announced the final installment of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy at Summer Game Fest 2026: Final Fantasy VII Revelation. The game is scheduled to release simultaneously across all platforms in Spring 2027—a significant shift from previous entries that featured exclusive launch windows on PlayStation.
The multi-platform release will include PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store). During the showcase, director Naoki Hamaguchi presented extended gameplay footage revealing the game’s open-world structure, centered around piloting the iconic Highwind airship to traverse the planet. Players will be able to seamlessly parachute from the airship to ground locations.
Revelation concludes the story that began with Final Fantasy VII Remake (2020) and continued with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (2024). According to official descriptions, the game follows Cloud Strife and his companions as they race against time to prevent a catastrophic calamity—specifically stopping Meteor and preventing Sephiroth from achieving godhood. The narrative involves confronting the Weapons, massive planetary guardians created by the planet itself.
Gameplay additions include a job system that allows players to switch character classes mid-adventure, and the return of Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind as playable characters, both of whom were unavailable in Rebirth. The trailer showcased combat encounters featuring the returning party members alongside these newly playable characters facing off against multiple enemies, including the aforementioned Weapons.
The simultaneous global release across all platforms marks a notable change in Square Enix’s strategy for the franchise, eliminating the platform exclusivity windows that characterized earlier entries in the remake trilogy.
