How Best To Use The New Sprites In Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 has launched following the conclusion of the Shattered live event, which saw the battle between The Ice King and The Foundation (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) reach its dramatic conclusion. The event featured dual narrative viewpoints based on player allegiances throughout the season, culminating in shock revelations including the unmasking of Ben Starr’s character.

The new season introduces sprites as its central gameplay mechanic. These returning entities, previously introduced in Chapter 6 Season 1, are now significantly more prevalent and integral to the Battle Royale experience. Players can pick up sprites scattered across the island to occupy inventory slots and gain special abilities. The sprites feature various rarity levels, with rarer variants offering more powerful abilities.

Epic Games has made unprecedented changes to the island for mid-chapter content, replacing the existing Chapter 7 map with an entirely remixed version called Shattered Coast. The new map reimagines familiar points of interest with substantial environmental changes. Battlewood has been transformed from an urban landscape into Battlewoods, featuring a forested environment with running rivers. Sanctuary has relocated from a desert setting to a tropical paradise. The geography and wilderness connecting these locations have also undergone dramatic alterations, making the updated island feel substantially different while maintaining familiar landmark names.

The seasonal transition required extended server maintenance beginning at 7:30 PM ET on June 6, with Epic Games projecting approximately five hours of downtime, with servers expected to return around 1 AM ET. The update represents one of the most significant overhauls to the game’s map in recent months, introducing fresh gameplay mechanics and reimagined landscapes for players to explore.
