How to earn ore in Gothic Remake

Gothic Remake, developed by Alkimia Interactive and published by THQ Nordic, launched on June 5, 2026 for $50. This modernized remake of the 2001 first-person RPG retains the core experience of its original: players are a nameless convict trapped beneath a magical dome in the Valley of the Mines, forced to survive in a harsh world with limited resources.

The remake emphasizes resource scarcity and deliberately challenging combat from the outset. Players begin with no weapons, armor, or gear, making early encounters extremely difficult—even weak enemies can be lethal without proper equipment and training. Progression heavily depends on earning ore through mining or other methods, which players use to purchase equipment, skills, and training from NPCs. This creates a distinct gameplay loop focused on careful resource management and strategic advancement rather than traditional leveling.

The game features three joinable factions—the Old Camp, New Camp, and Swamp Camp—each offering different questlines and progression paths. Players can only join one faction permanently, though they can still visit and complete quests in others. Numerous NPCs populate the world with their own routines and quests, creating a living world filled with memorable characters and opportunities for exploration.

The remake modernizes several systems while preserving the original’s identity. Fast travel becomes available through teleport runes in later chapters, mounts like the Scavenger provide mobility, and purchasable maps aid navigation. Magic offers a powerful early-game boost, encouraging investment in spellcasting skills. Combat remains deliberately punishing, with enemies dealing substantial damage and little room for error, particularly before obtaining proper armor and training. This challenging approach contrasts sharply with modern RPGs and appeals to players seeking demanding, unforgiving gameplay experiences.
