Amy Hennig’s Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra Won’t Be Released Until 2027 at the Earliest
Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, the narrative-driven action adventure from Amy Hennig’s Skydance New Media, has been delayed again. An executive at the newly formed Paramount Games Studio confirmed the game will not release until at least 2027, after previously being delayed from an early 2026 target in November 2025.
The game, originally announced in October 2021, features a World War II-era setting with characters including Captain America, Azzuri (the Black Panther of the 1940s), Gabriel Jones of the Howling Commandos, and Nanali, a Wakandan spy embedded in occupied Paris. The narrative-focused adventure explores this unique superhero ensemble during the war.
While the delays have sparked concerns about development troubles at Skydance New Media, the studio’s leadership has provided reassurance. Shawn Kittelsen, head of creative at Paramount Games Studio, confirmed that Marvel 1943 is real, playable, and in active development. The additional time will allow the team to complete the game to their standards.
The repeated delays signal a lengthy development cycle for the title, which has been in production for over four years since its announcement. However, the confirmation that the game remains functional and in progress suggests development challenges are being addressed rather than the project being abandoned entirely.
