Maverick Games reveals Clutch, an open-world racer set in the rather gorgeous-looking French Riviera
Maverick Games, a new studio founded by former Forza Horizon developers, has unveiled Clutch, a cinematic open-world action-driving game. The debut title, creative-directed by Mike Brown, was revealed with its first full trailer at Summer Game Fest 2026.
Set in Monaco and the French Riviera, Clutch features a story-driven narrative written by Skins co-creator Jamie Brittain. The game follows protagonist Theo (voiced by Tosin Cole) and Cass Martial (portrayed by Little Simz) as they compete in the Riviera 1000 racing event by day while engaging in underground street racing by night. The fictional version of Monaco created for the game is notably larger than the real-life location, offering miles of diverse terrain including vibrant city streets, dramatic mountain switchbacks, and breathtaking coastal highways.
The game boasts an impressive voice cast that also includes Jane Perry (known for Returnal) and Peter Serafinowicz (Dark Souls 2). While not a traditional racing simulation, Clutch emphasizes narrative and cinematic storytelling alongside driving action, drawing inspiration from earlier Need for Speed entries that similarly blended story with racing gameplay.
Clutch is scheduled to launch in Spring 2027 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
