After Mixtape, Cheerful Music Game Mr. Records Is A Day Of The Devs Standout
Mr. Records, an indie game from developer Neil Broadhead and publisher Wired Productions, emerged as a standout title at the 2026 Day of the Devs showcase. The game follows George, an elderly vinyl record shop owner who can transport himself to another world through music.
The gameplay combines two distinct experiences. During daytime segments, players manage a vinyl record shop in a Moonlighter-style setup, selecting and matching music to suit individual customers. At night, the game shifts into a music-reactive rhythm experience where George enters another world, jumping and responding to the beat of songs.
Mr. Records distinguishes itself from similar music-focused titles like Mixtape by featuring 45 original compositions created by composer Charles Bardin, rather than relying on licensed tracks. This approach gives the game a unique sonic identity while blending relaxing shop management gameplay with more active musical challenge.
