What The Hell Do You Name The Follow-Up To N++?

N Plus Infinity Times Two, the long-awaited multiplayer sequel to the acclaimed 2D platformer N++, has been announced by Canadian developer Metanet Software. The game is scheduled for release in 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Switch 2.

Metanet’s Raigan Burns and Mare Sheppard are bringing the momentum-based platforming of the N series to multiplayer with this new entry. While N++ was celebrated as a single-player experience featuring thousands of hand-crafted levels, N Plus Infinity Times Two shifts focus toward cooperative and competitive multiplayer gameplay, reimagined as what the studio describes as “the ultimate virtual couch party.”

The game will include five multiplayer modes: Races (a 2D take on Fall Guys-style competition), Team Tag, and One-Up—where players are eliminated if they can’t complete levels faster than rivals. Traditional N franchise staples return as well, including Trials mode and co-op experiences, alongside a remixed version of Racing. A solo campaign will also be included, though multiplayer is the primary focus.

N++ was released in 2015 after a decade of development, building on the original freeware Flash title N from over two decades ago. The 2015 release became regarded as one of the finest platformers ever made, offering staggering depth and scope. It received a substantial free expansion as recently as last year, making the announcement of a new entry somewhat surprising to longtime fans.
