Overgeared, next series from Solo Leveling studio, coming to Crunchyroll this fall

Following the success of Solo Leveling, another Korean webtoon is being adapted into anime. Overgeared, illustrated by Redice Studio—the same studio behind the Solo Leveling adaptation—is coming to Crunchyroll in October 2026. The announcement included the release of an official teaser trailer.

The series centers on Shin Youngwoo, known in-game as Grid, a low-ranking player in a popular virtual reality game. His circumstances change dramatically when he discovers a rare and powerful item that unlocks new abilities within him. Among these newfound powers is the skill of an expert blacksmith, allowing him to craft high-level equipment. Grid leverages this ability to pursue wealth and recognition within the game world.

The production team assembled for the adaptation is notable. Director Ayako Kouno has been tapped to helm the series. The adaptation capitalizes on the growing momentum of Korean webtoon properties in animation, particularly following Solo Leveling’s international success on Crunchyroll. As more studios and streaming platforms invest in this content, webtoon-to-anime adaptations have become an increasingly significant segment of the animation industry.
