Even the RuneScape Spinoff Is Coming Out in September
RuneScape: Dragonwilds, a co-op survival crafting game and the first standalone title in Jagex’s RuneScape franchise, is launching on September 15, 2026. The game will release simultaneously across PC (exiting early access), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
Initially ambiguous from an earlier State of Play announcement, the game has now been confirmed to not be a PlayStation 5 exclusive. However, it will be available day one on PS Plus Extra, allowing subscribers to access the full game as part of their subscription service.
RuneScape: Dragonwilds represents a departure from the classic medieval MMORPG experience, instead focusing on open-world gameplay with crafting and survival mechanics. The game has been in early access on PC for some time and has achieved significant success during this period, accumulating over one million copies sold and earning “Very Positive” reviews on Steam.
The full 1.0 launch includes new content such as the Scorned Wilderness update and material from the upcoming Umbral Sands expansion. The September 15 release date places RuneScape: Dragonwilds in a crowded month for game launches, alongside other notable titles like Marvel’s Wolverine, Control: Resonant, and Silent Hill: Townfall—all rushing to release ahead of Grand Theft Auto 6’s November debut.
