Stellar Blade Blood Rain takes a big swing with a Summer Game Fest reveal trailer

Shift Up has unveiled Stellar Blade: Blood Rain at Summer Game Fest 2026, a sequel to its critically acclaimed 2024 action game. The new entry introduces a fresh protagonist, Evie, who embarks on a journey set after the events of the original game, navigating a dystopian cyberpunk world filled with grotesque monsters called naytibas.

The gameplay trailer showcases the series’ signature stylish, fast-paced combat, though Blood Rain shifts focus toward melee-based attacks and fisticuffs compared to the sword-centric gameplay of its predecessor. The visual presentation remains impressive, with the footage captured on PC demonstrating significant technical ambition.

A notable shift in publishing strategy accompanies the sequel: unlike the original Stellar Blade, which launched as a PlayStation 5 exclusive before receiving a PC port, Blood Rain will not be published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Instead, Shift Up is leveraging its own publishing division, opening the door for multiplatform releases across PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC simultaneously.

The game is currently in early development with no release date announced. Shift Up confirmed that development is progressing on schedule to meet their quality standards. The studio plans to expand the series’ world and narrative in what they describe as a “bold new direction,” building upon the stylish action and cinematic presentation that defined the original game.
