After the success of Black Myth: Wukong and Wuchang: Fallen Feather, Swords of Legends aims to elevate the Chinese action-RPG even further

Swords of Legends, an upcoming action-RPG from Aurogon Shanghai, was showcased at Summer Game Fest with a new trailer focusing on boss battles. The game is the fourth entry in the long-running Gujian series and marks the franchise’s first Western release, coming to PS5 powered by Unreal Engine 5.

Set in a primordial age inspired by classical Chinese literature, the game features a world where mortals, gods, and wandering souls coexist. The latest trailer highlights dynamic combat encounters, including a boss named Kong Kong Zi—a floating adversary whose attacks are styled after Traditional Chinese Conjuring, a centuries-old stage magic tradition.

The title arrives amid growing international success for Chinese action-RPGs, following the popularity of Black Myth: Wukong and Wuchang: Fallen Feather. The Gujian series has been described as comparable to Final Fantasy in its cultural significance. With its emphasis on challenging boss fights, classical Chinese aesthetics, and Unreal Engine 5’s visual capabilities, Swords of Legends aims to further elevate the genre. The game was first announced at Gamescom Opening Night Live last August and is set to release soon on PS5.
