New Lara Croft Actor Reveals How She Busted Up Her Arm Making The New Game
Alix Wilton Regan, the actress providing voice and motion capture for the upcoming Tomb Raider games, has revealed she sustained an arm injury while working on Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis. The injury occurred during an intense performance capture session where Regan was simulating one of Lara Croft’s action sequences—specifically the iconic moment of the character battering down a door. Over the course of five to seven consecutive takes, Regan threw herself into the door repeatedly until she injured her arm, leaving it “hanging limply” by the end of the day.
Regan attributed the injury to her commitment to fully embodying the character during performance capture work. She explained that she struggles to separate herself from Lara Croft, stating “I just forget that I’m not actually Lara Croft.” She emphasized her belief that she must physically “feel everything” to authentically portray the character’s movements and actions. Despite her colleagues repeatedly telling her such extreme physical commitment wasn’t necessary, Regan insisted on maintaining her intense approach, even acknowledging that her methods could “drive people mad on set.”
Regan is set to play Lara Croft in both Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and the upcoming Tomb Raider: Catalyst, bringing her signature dedication to physical performance capture work to the iconic video game character.
