Steam Machine and Steam Frame both shipping “this summer”, Valve affirms
Valve has reaffirmed its commitment to launching the Steam Machine and Steam Frame this summer, solidifying the company’s latest push into gaming hardware. The Steam Machine is a console designed to bring PC gaming to televisions, while the Steam Frame is a standalone VR headset that functions as a complete wearable computer. Originally scheduled for Q1 2026, both devices were delayed to the first half of the year due to rising RAM costs amid an ongoing global memory shortage.
To support these new platforms, Valve is expanding its Verified program—currently used to certify games on the Steam Deck—to include both the Steam Machine and Steam Frame. The program helps customers understand the out-of-box gaming experience on new devices without requiring manual configuration, and indicates how smoothly individual titles will run. This certification system aims to set clear expectations for game compatibility and performance across Valve’s hardware ecosystem.
Notably, Valve’s announcement provides no pricing information for either device, leaving prospective buyers in the dark about the financial investment required. The summer launch window represents another significant milestone in Valve’s diversification beyond software, following the commercial success of the Steam Deck handheld console.
