Unlike Other Sony Exclusives, Wolverine PS5 Will Launch with New Game Plus Day One
Marvel’s Wolverine will ship with New Game Plus available on day one of launch, a notable departure from recent Sony exclusive releases. In contrast to games like Ghost of Yotei and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which added New Game Plus weeks after their initial releases alongside additional content and Trophy updates, the upcoming Wolverine action title will include the feature from day one.
The New Game Plus mode will be included on the physical Blu-ray disc, ensuring players can immediately restart their campaign after completing the main story without requiring additional downloads or updates. This represents a shift in Sony’s post-launch content strategy, traditionally using New Game Plus as an incentive for long-term player engagement.
Game Director Mike Daly revealed that the development team prioritized making the second playthrough experience equally engaging as the first campaign. To achieve this goal, the team made design adjustments to the gameplay experience, ensuring that New Game Plus offered meaningful changes and continued entertainment value rather than simply repeating the original story. This design philosophy suggests that replayability and sustained player engagement remain core considerations for the title.
