Avatar: The Last Airbender Iroh Actor Blasts ‘Straight Up Evil’ Paramount Executives After RPG Is Canceled

Paramount Games has canceled its previously announced Avatar: The Last Airbender AAA RPG, which was in development by Saber Interactive as part of the Avatar Legends Universe. The project’s cancellation came despite Avatar being designated as one of Paramount Games’ four core intellectual properties when the newly formed studio was established, alongside Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, SpongeBob SquarePants, and Star Trek. Shawn Kittelsen, head of creative at Paramount Games, confirmed the game was already no longer in development by the time the studio took over. The publisher simultaneously canceled another title, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, which it had announced at Summer Game Fest.

The cancellation has provoked sharp criticism from Greg Baldwin, the voice actor who has portrayed Iroh since Season 3 of the original Avatar: The Last Airbender animated series. Baldwin responded on social media with a series of posts blasting Paramount executives as “straight up evil,” framing his remarks as a “hard truth” for fans about the franchise’s future direction under the publisher.

The dual cancellations underscore challenges facing game publishers managing multiple intellectual properties. The incidents also highlight creative talent frustration when announced projects are terminated, particularly when beloved franchises are involved.
