Surprise! Blasphemous 2: The Third Sin is a new - and free - expansion, and it’s out now
Blasphemous 2 has received a surprise free expansion titled “The Third Sin,” released this week. The new content challenges players to explore a massive gothic castle that was once a refuge for nobles before being devastated by an event known as The Miracle.
The expansion features a substantial new area for exploration, measuring approximately a quarter of the size of the entire Blasphemous II and Mea Culpa combined world maps. Players will navigate the fortress’s winding halls, twisting towers, expansive library, and crypt sections as they uncover the castle’s dark history.
The update introduces fresh gameplay elements including a new boss encounter, additional enemy types, and a new weapon called the Blade Tipped Whip alongside new prayer abilities. Players can unlock new character outfits throughout their journey. The expansion also adds a boss gallery feature that allows players to replay previously defeated bosses from the main game.
This free expansion represents significant additional content for the 2023 Switch release, providing players with extended gameplay experiences and challenges within the dark, gothic aesthetic that defines the Blasphemous series.
