Kingdom Hearts, Jak & Daxter-Inspired ‘Duskfade’ Confirmed For Switch 2

Duskfade, a 3D action-platformer developed by Spanish studio Weird Beluga and published by Fireshine Games, has been confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2 with an August 13, 2026 release date. The announcement came during today’s Future Games Show.

The game was previously revealed for other platforms with a general 2026 release window, but this showcase provided the specific Switch 2 launch date. Duskfade draws heavy inspiration from early-to-mid-2000s console classics, with developers explicitly channeling the aesthetic and gameplay of the PlayStation 2, GameCube, and original Xbox era. The game’s design shows clear influences from beloved franchises like Kingdom Hearts and Jak & Daxter, leading publisher Fireshine Games to describe it as “a love letter to PS2 classics.”

As a 3D action-platformer, Duskfade aims to recapture the magic of that nostalgic console generation, positioning itself as a modern spiritual successor combining action-platforming mechanics with adventure elements. The game represents part of an ongoing trend of indie developers creating tributes to beloved 2000s gaming experiences.
