Sci-fi RPG Exodus even has a Mass Effect-like morality system, except it’s not Paragon and Renegade but Paladin and Immortal

Archetype Entertainment’s sci-fi action RPG Exodus received an extended gameplay reveal at the Future Games Show, showcasing its mechanics and narrative direction. The game follows Jun Aslan, a deep space salvager and self-described nobody—a stark contrast to Mass Effect’s Commander Shepard. What makes Jun unique is a genetic trait that grants the ability to wield powerful, upgradeable technology, including a distinctive gauntlet.

The gameplay reveal confirmed that Exodus features a binary morality system heavily inspired by Mass Effect, though with distinct theming. Rather than Paragon and Renegade points, players align themselves with an “oath system” offering Paladin or Immortal alignments. These moral choices are determined at the start of the game and shape Jun’s path throughout the adventure.

The nearly 20-minute gameplay video provided the most comprehensive look at Exodus to date, covering various sections of the game world. The presentation sparked comparisons to Mass Effect across multiple design elements, a parallel that has followed Exodus since its initial announcement. The footage also clarified that time-dilation mechanics will be used sparingly rather than extensively, maintaining narrative pacing and player agency without overrelying on a single mechanic.
