Stellar Blade: Blood Rain Dev Comments on Launch Platform Plans
Shift Up’s sequel to its acclaimed action game Stellar Blade was among the major announcements at Summer Game Fest 2026. Titled Stellar Blade: Blood Rain, the game will introduce a new protagonist and features a newly revealed trailer. However, the platforms on which Blood Rain will launch remain unconfirmed, sparking speculation among fans and industry observers.
The uncertainty around platforms stems from the original Stellar Blade’s release strategy. The 2024 game launched as a PlayStation 5 exclusive published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, before receiving a PC port a year later. To date, no Xbox version of the original has been released.
A significant development is that Shift Up has announced it will self-publish the sequel, marking a departure from its partnership with Sony. This decision to go independent has generated discussion about which platforms the game might eventually reach, particularly whether Xbox Series X and S versions might now be possible given the change in publisher.
