Virtua Fighter Crossroads writers include David Hayter of Solid Snake fame and Persona staff
Virtua Fighter Crossroads has assembled a notable writing team, headlined by David Hayter, the acclaimed voice actor best known for portraying Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid franchise. Hayter announced during Sega’s Virtua Fighter Crossroads Showcase at Summer Game Fest 2026 that he has been overseeing “World Development” on the fighting game for the past year. This marks his first professional writing role in the video game industry.
The game’s expansive story mode also features writing contributions from Shinji Yamamoto and other staff members with experience on the Persona series. Virtua Fighter Crossroads is in development at Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, the studio behind the critically acclaimed Like a Dragon and Yakuza franchises, bringing significant narrative expertise to the project.
Hayter expressed enthusiasm about the new direction, suggesting players will enjoy the story-driven approach. The involvement of such experienced writers from both mainstream entertainment and acclaimed game franchises indicates that Sega is prioritizing narrative depth for this new entry in the Virtua Fighter series, a franchise historically known for its fighting mechanics.
