Steampunk RPG Clockwork Revolution arrives 2027, as an Xbox console exclusive

inXile Entertainment’s long-awaited steampunk action RPG Clockwork Revolution finally has a release window following its presentation at the 2026 Xbox Games Showcase. The game will launch in 2027 as an Xbox console exclusive, though it will also be available on PC.

The time-bending first-person action game draws comparisons to BioShock with its immersive sim design and gadget-based gameplay. Players assume the role of Morgan Vanette, a fully customizable member of the Rotten Row Hooligans gang, who becomes trapped in a time-traveling adventure after a heist goes wrong. The game’s setting, the steampunk metropolis of Avalon, serves as the stage for a narrative where player choices and actions shape the story, the city, and supporting characters.

At the showcase, a new gameplay trailer titled “The Heist” showcased the game’s vibrant cast of characters and world-building. Lady Ironwood emerges as the primary antagonist—a ruthless ruler who manipulates time to maintain her grip on power and suppress the working class. Players will also encounter companions like Prentice, a flying automaton who serves as both observer and guide. The trailer highlighted the game’s signature time-bending mechanics alongside humor and creative storytelling.

Clockwork Revolution marks the second Xbox console exclusive announced at the event, alongside Gears of War: E-Day. Originally revealed in 2023, this is the first concrete release window the studio has provided, answering years of fan anticipation. The decision to exclude PlayStation 5 represents Microsoft’s selective approach to platform exclusivity, reserving certain titles to differentiate its platform while releasing most games across multiple systems.
