Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Director Shares His Favorite Thing To Remake

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy will conclude next year with Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. Director Naoki Hamaguchi recently shared with GameSpot his favorite aspect of remaking the classic title for modern audiences.

Hamaguchi expressed particular enthusiasm for reimagining the Weapons—the powerful adversaries from the original game. He highlighted the creative challenge of presenting these creatures at their actual scale in the new game. In the original Final Fantasy 7, the Weapons appeared on the world map but weren’t rendered at their true massive size due to technical limitations. For Revelation, the development team must determine how to authentically represent these iconic enemies at their proper scale while ensuring they deliver the intended impact.

The director noted that the FF7 Remake trilogy pays extensive homage to the original game throughout its three installments, making it difficult to single out one favorite element to reimagine. However, the Weapons’ scale and presentation stood out to him as a particularly compelling creative challenge for the new generation.
