Gears of War: E-Day gets the official Cliff Bleszinski seal of approval

Gears of War: E-Day received its official unveiling at the Xbox Games Showcase, presented as an Xbox console exclusive with support for PC, but notably excluding PlayStation 5. The extended gameplay presentation emphasized the nostalgic significance of returning the flagship franchise to Microsoft’s console ecosystem.

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma underscored the strategic importance of the announcement, remarking “It’s only fitting that as we return to Xbox, we return to Gears,” positioning the title as a cornerstone for Microsoft’s future console direction. The game is being framed as both a return to the franchise’s roots and a forward-looking release to drive the next generation of Xbox gaming.

Most significantly, original Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski provided his official seal of approval for the project. Despite initial skepticism, Bleszinski’s perspective shifted after viewing the E-Day Direct presentation, ultimately endorsing the game. His backing is particularly noteworthy given his foundational role in creating the original franchise.
