Godzilla isn’t scared of GTA 6 — The King of the Monsters is coming back to Xbox and PC at a time nobody else wants to release a game

Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee, the cult classic fighting game originally released in 2002 for GameCube and 2003 for the original Xbox, is being remastered for modern platforms. Atari and original developer Pipeworks announced the project during Summer Game Fest week, with the remaster targeting Xbox and PC.

The 2002 original has become increasingly rare and expensive in the used market, as original copies remain difficult to obtain and original hardware is no longer readily available. This remaster addresses a significant gap for longtime fans seeking to experience the game without legacy console hardware.

The November release window marks a notably bold choice, as the game will launch during one of the year’s busiest release periods, including the arrival of major titles like Grand Theft Auto 6. While many publishers avoid this crowded window, Atari has elected to release the remastered Godzilla title during this traditionally challenging timeframe.

The remaster represents an important effort in game preservation, bringing a classic title to contemporary audiences on modern platforms. By releasing on current-generation Xbox consoles and PC, the game will reach significantly more players than the original GameCube and original Xbox versions, making this often-sought title accessible to fans who may have missed or been unable to play the original release.
