Halo: Campaign Evolved arrives in July, and it’s still coming to PS5 despite Xbox shake-ups

Microsoft has officially announced the release date for Halo: Campaign Evolved, a full remake of the campaign mode from the original Halo: Combat Evolved. The game will launch on July 28, 2026, across Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5. Players who purchase the $69.99 Premium Edition or $199.99 Collector’s Edition can access the game five days early on July 23, with the base game priced at $49.99.

The game marks a significant moment for Microsoft, as it’s coming to PlayStation despite the company’s recent shift toward platform exclusivity—notably making Gears of War: E-Day an Xbox exclusive. Built in Unreal Engine 5, Halo: Campaign Evolved features completely remastered visuals in 4K, updated animations, and re-recorded dialogue. The remake includes new content alongside the classic campaign, specifically three all-new prequel missions under Operation: METEORITE that take place one year before the events of the original game, featuring Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson.

The game will support both two-player split-screen and four-player online co-op with crossplay functionality. PS5 players will benefit from specific optimizations including DualSense controller integration and PS5 Pro support, while the game is also available on PC via Steam and Xbox. This marks the first time the Halo franchise will be available on PlayStation hardware.
