Persona 6 is real, coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC, but that’s about all we know
Atlus has officially announced Persona 6, the next mainline entry in the long-running RPG franchise, nearly a decade after Persona 5’s 2016 release. The announcement came during the Xbox Games Showcase at Summer Game Fest 2026, coinciding with the franchise’s 30th anniversary.
The reveal was intentionally minimal, featuring only a brief teaser trailer showing a graveyard setting with headstones and gothic, ominous imagery bathed in neon green light. The color is significant within the franchise—each mainline Persona game carries an associated color (red for Persona 5, yellow for Persona 4, blue for Persona 3). A mysterious hand reaches toward a statue with flashes of imagery, suggesting a darker tonal direction than previous entries.
No release date or window was provided, leaving fans with minimal concrete details beyond platform confirmation. Persona 6 will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC—marking a significant shift as the series has historically remained PlayStation-exclusive. The game will be available day one on Xbox Game Pass with Xbox Play Anywhere support.
According to the Xbox store listing, Persona 6 features a Japanese school setting with a new protagonist, maintaining the series’ signature blend of daily student life and supernatural adventure. The official description emphasizes a “bold, new standalone story” with mechanics centered on building character bonds. The sparse announcement follows a challenging week managing character design leaks, with fans intensely analyzing the brief footage for hidden details. Meanwhile, Atlus continues supporting the franchise with Persona 4 Revival scheduled for early 2027.
