Asobo Studio’s Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is launching August 27, 2026, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The prequel marks the third entry in the acclaimed historical action-adventure series, set 15 years before the events of A Plague Tale: Requiem.

The game centers on Sophia, a fierce young pirate and plunderer determined to uncover the mysteries of her past. Her journey leads to Minotaur Island, where she faces deadly trials while uncovering a curse. The story uniquely blends two time periods—Sophia navigates both the present day and ancient Minoan civilization (Bronze Age), shifting between eras as she explores mysterious ruins and unravels mythological secrets.

A significant departure from previous Plague Tale entries, Resonance shifts focus away from the rat-infested horrors of earlier games, instead emphasizing puzzle-solving and combat encounters within its mythology-infused narrative. The developers describe it as “an original story blending combat, myth and fate with a brand new take in the universe of A Plague Tale.”

While the August 27 release date positions Resonance just ahead of a particularly crowded September gaming schedule, the $59.99 price point offers relatively accessible entry. The game promises to expand the franchise’s lore while experimenting with fresh gameplay mechanics and historical settings, appealing to both longtime series fans and newcomers alike.
