RuneScape: Dragonwilds is coming to Xbox and it’s bringing one of the platform’s best features with it

RuneScape: Dragonwilds is launching on Xbox Series X|S in September with Xbox Play Anywhere support, allowing players to purchase the game once and access it on both Xbox consoles and Windows PC. The title will feature shared progression across platforms, enabling players to seamlessly continue their adventure regardless of their chosen device.

The announcement followed the game’s reveal during Sony’s State of Play event. Many initially assumed the game would be exclusive to PlayStation, largely due to the platform holder’s typical practice of avoiding competitor logos during presentations—a convention that has drawn criticism within the Xbox community. Microsoft has indicated plans to change this approach during its own future showcases.

The cross-platform progression system reflects current industry trends toward accessible multi-platform experiences, particularly important for live-service games like RuneScape that maintain ongoing player communities across multiple devices.
