Mature, Story-Driven Star Trek Game Sets Phasers to Stun on PS5

Polish developer Bloober Team has announced Star Trek: Shadow Frontier, a mature, story-driven psychological thriller in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, launching in 2027. The game is being published by the newly formed Paramount Games Studio.

The third-person action-adventure is set on an uncharted planet serving as a graveyard of crashed spaceships. Players control Ro Laren, a character from Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Picard, reprised by actress Michelle Forbes. After answering a distress call, Ro crash-lands on the planet and explores its corrupted surface while encountering other survivors.

The narrative centers on Ro’s mission of discovery, which comes at significant cost. As she uncovers the planet’s secrets, her memories become distorted and her grip on reality weakens. The planet itself has been weaponized by a mysterious entity, with each encounter testing the player’s resolve. The game emphasizes psychological depth and the personal toll of exploration, aligning with Star Trek’s tradition of thought-provoking storytelling alongside action gameplay.

Bloober Team brings its expertise in atmospheric, psychologically-driven experiences from the critically acclaimed Silent Hill 2 remake to the Star Trek universe.
