Co-op RPG Terrinoth: Heroes of Descent brings the board game to PC—and it’s available to play right now
Terrinoth: Heroes of Descent, a tactical RPG adaptation of the 2005 board game Descent: Journeys in the Dark, launched on Steam during the PC Gaming Show presentation. The release marks the franchise’s first official adaptation to PC, with the game made immediately available for download during the event.
Descent: Journeys in the Dark is a fantasy dungeon crawler featuring cooperative multiplayer gameplay with a distinctive asymmetrical structure. A group of player-controlled heroes work together to fight enemies and complete objectives, while one player assumes the role of the Overlord. The Overlord controls enemy creatures and actively works to hinder and defeat the heroes during play. This dynamic creates an adversarial cooperative experience that has differentiated Descent in the tabletop gaming market.
The original board game has maintained a strong following since its 2005 release, establishing Descent as a popular dungeon-crawling experience. The PC adaptation brings this gameplay to digital audiences for the first time, expanding the franchise beyond its tabletop origins. The surprise launch strategy during the PC Gaming Show allowed viewers to download and play the game immediately while watching the presentation, generating significant visibility for the release.
